Final Project

My final project will be to make a Wiki page for my 2nd grade class. I hope to include lots of information about class technology projects and class assignments.

Lesley Web 2.0

This is the webquest that my partner (Jessica Hollie) and I did on Where will my vacation be? If you would like to see it here is the site for your viewing pleasure.

Flickr Assignment

Okay well I was a little late but I am here to make up for whatever was missed. When I found these pics on Flickr, I immediately thought about Africa.

Web Application/Webware Presentation

Okay, much like many of you I was a little lost for what to do. But my partner (Jessica Hollie) and I hope that we hit it on the head. Our site for the presentation is Kids Know It (www.kidsknowit.com).
This is a very informative site that has information on it for just about any subject you wish to explore. Not only is there information listed about the subject(s) in question but the site also offers games to help drill the point home. This makes it fun for the students.
We both thought that this was a great site and hope that everyone enjoys it as much as we have. This is a great site if anyone has not used it before to take back to the classroom to share with inquiring students. Have fun exploring it.

Teaching Zach to Think and for that matter everyone else too

Okay I read this article and it was a refresher but always good to read. Teaching students to use the web as a research resource is great but teachers need to make sure that students understand if the information that they have researched is correct. Students can use a search engine called Profusion.com to search several search engines (i.e. Altavista, Excite, Infoseek, Lycos, and Yahoo) at once. Running a search on Profusion will help the student get a better understanding of the subject being researched. Although students have the ability to use the web they also need to look beyond the Internet for dependable resources.

Youtube Comes to the Classroom

Thought I would add a lovely song before posting my first reading. (RIP AJ)

Okay so I agree with the masses, Youtube is here to stay and the fact that it is free makes it belong here forever. There is a saying that goes something like if you can't beat them join them. It fits perfectly for this situation. Students (people in general) are flocking to this site and posting all day and all night. The odds are better putting the information out of the book in video form for students to view.
